“The Power of Love, hey that could be a song.” … That’s exactly the kind of line I could always expect from my freshman high school English teacher. He already knew it was a song, of course, but he’d say it out loud just to see if we were paying attention. It was his witty way of connecting with us. He’d do the same thing whenever a movie title or another song came up in discussion, even if it wasn’t directly related to the actual topic.
Today, along those same lines, we’re not talking about the Huey Lewis song made famous in the 80s classic Back to the Future (one of my all-time favorites). We’re talking about something much deeper—the actual power that love provides in our lives.
While the song was catchy and the movie unforgettable, the real “power of love” goes far beyond pop culture. Love isn’t just an emotion—it’s a force that can shape your mindset, fuel resilience, and transform the way you show up in every area of life.
When most people think of power, they picture strength, dominance, or control. But the greatest power in the universe isn’t about force—it’s about love. Love has the ability to rewire your mindset, fuel resilience, and unlock transformation faster than fear or pressure ever could.
We chase success, wealth, recognition, and even wisdom—but what if the greatest thing you could ever master isn’t knowledge or power… but love?
Here’s the truth: fear may motivate you in the short term, but love sustains you for the long game.
😟 Fear says, “Don’t mess up.”
🙂 Love says, “Keep going, I believe in you.”
🪫Fear drains your energy.
🔋Love multiplies it.
When you operate from love—love for your growth, love for your people, love for your purpose—your mindset shifts. You stop reacting and start creating. You stop striving for validation and start living in alignment. And in that alignment, discipline feels lighter, obstacles shrink, and setbacks transform into setups.
In the book, Love: The Supreme Gift, Henry Drummond reminds us that love isn’t just a feeling—it’s the ultimate growth strategy. Love is the highest virtue, the supreme mindset shift, and the most transformative power available to us.
Paul wrote in 1 Corinthians 13 that faith, hope, and love remain—but the greatest is love. Drummond takes that truth and unpacks it:
- Love is the Supreme Gift. Knowledge fades, wealth disappears, even faith and hope find their fulfillment—but love endures.
- Love in Action > Love in Theory. Real love shows up in the little things: patience when frustrated, kindness when overlooked, humility when tempted to boast.
- Love is Practical. It’s not about lofty ideals—it’s about how you treat the cashier, your spouse, your coworkers, even yourself.
- Love Transforms. Not only does it bless others—it changes you. When you choose love, you level up your character, resilience, and mindset.
Think of it like this: discipline, habits, and mindset fuel your progress—but love is the engine that drives it all forward with lasting power.
“Let all that you do be done in love.” — 1 Corinthians 16:14
Paul doesn’t say some of what you do. He says all. That’s the mindset shift: when you approach your habits, your health, your relationships, your work, and even your struggles with love at the foundation, you activate a higher level of clarity and courage.
Practical Tip #1
This week, reframe one daily habit through the lens of love:
- Instead of “I have to work out” → “I get to love my body by moving it.”
- Instead of “I need to eat healthy” → “I choose to love myself with better fuel.”
- Instead of “I need to be more disciplined” → “I choose to love my future self by showing up today.”
Love is fuel. Love is alignment. Love is power. And when your mindset is powered by love, you become unstoppable.
Practical Tip #2
This week, pick one trait of love from 1 Corinthians 13—patience, kindness, humility, selflessness, forgiveness—and make it your focus.
👉 For example: if you choose patience, slow down in conversations, breathe before reacting, and give others the grace you hope they’d give you.
When love becomes your default response, you’re not just leveling up your life—you’re leveling up the lives of everyone around you.
The real “cheat code” for success isn’t found in grinding harder—it’s found in loving deeper. When you embody love, you unlock the supreme gift.
