It’s always an honor and privilege to speak, especially at my local church. Recently, I shared a message inspired by the Book of Philippians, specifically Paul’s words:
“Forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead, I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus.” – Philippians 3:13-14 (NIV)
These words reflect a mindset of resilience, determination, and unwavering faith. You can watch my full message, “We Must Press On,” here: [https://youtu.be/InEI9VWdDoU].
Paul’s letter to the Philippians, written while he was imprisoned, emphasizes unity, perseverance, and joy in Christ despite adversity. As a Mindset & Performance Athlete and Coach, I resonate deeply with his exhortation to “press on.” This aligns with my belief in setting goals and taking daily actions towards them.
Personally, I’ve been dealing with a hockey-related injury that disrupted my routines and mindset. It affected my back and sciatic nerve, leading me to make excuses for avoiding exercise. Once I stopped making excuses and adjusted my goals, I overcame the injury and am now close to a long-term goal set four years ago.
Faith is crucial in pursuing your goals. Scripture reinforces endurance and hope, reminding us that present sufferings are temporary and that relying on God’s strength helps us overcome obstacles. Verses like Romans 8:18, Isaiah 40:31, and Hebrews 12:1-2 encourage perseverance.
May this message inspire you to navigate your path with faith, resilience, and commitment to God’s mission for your life.
